Your registration pathway
- Onboarding and requirements gathering. We collect your service details (provider entity, registered manager, service model, office location) and give you a simple checklist of the items only you can obtain — DBS checks, office lease and landlord consent, evidence of legal occupancy, insurance quote, ICO registration.
- Stage 1 delivery — your application pack. We prepare your full set of CQC application policies and complete your application forms with you, in as little as 3–5 working days once requirements are met.
- Submission. We check everything and support your provider and registered manager applications through the CQC provider portal.
- Stage 2 delivery — assessment and interview support. Additional documents CQC may request during assessment, your registered manager interview Q&A pack, a 2-hour mock interview with written feedback, follow-up with CQC on your behalf, and appeal support if your application is challenged.
- Registration decision. You receive your certificate of registration and can begin trading.
Stage 1 — your application document pack
Every document CQC requires from all provider applicants, written specifically for your supported living service:
- Complaints policy
- Consent policy and procedure
- Equality, diversity and human rights policy
- Governance and quality assurance policies
- Infection prevention and control policy
- Medicines management policy (including transportation of medication)
- Recruitment policy
- Safeguarding policy and procedure
- Statement of Purpose
Plus the extra documents CQC requires from supported living services:
- Business plan and financial forecast
- Service user guide
- Staff training plan
- Positive behaviour support policy and restraint policy (for services supporting autistic people or people with a learning disability, in line with Right Support, Right Care, Right Culture)
- Provider and registered manager application forms — completed with you, including the additional forms for personal care providers and for providers of services for autistic people and people with a learning disability
As a supported living service you do not need to send CQC a financial viability statement — we make sure your application reflects this correctly.
Stage 2 — assessment, interview and follow-up
- Additional documents CQC may request while assessing your application, prepared and kept ready so requests never delay you
- Registered manager interview question-and-answer preparation pack
- 2-hour mock interview with written feedback
- Follow-up with CQC on your behalf until a decision is made
- Appeal support if your application is challenged
Timescales and payment
Your Stage 1 document pack is delivered in as little as 3–5 working days once your requirements are met. CQC’s own assessment timescales are set by CQC and are outside our control.
You can pay in two stages: 50% to begin (Stage 1 document pack) and 50% at submission stage, which covers your Stage 2 documents, interview preparation, mock interview and CQC follow-up.
What we need from you
Some items can only come from you, and your application cannot progress until they are ready. These are your responsibility and outside our control: DBS checks, your office lease and the landlord’s consent to run a CQC-registered service from the premises, evidence of legal occupancy for supported living settings, public and employer liability insurance quote or certificate, ICO registration, and financial or bank evidence. We give you a checklist for all of these on day one and guide you through each step.
