Ofsted Supported Accommodation Registration Service
Complete Registration Package for 16 to 18 Year Olds | Cura Compliance
Are you setting up a supported accommodation service for looked-after children and care leavers aged 16 and 17? Since October 2023, every provider in England must register with Ofsted under The Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023 before accepting any placements. Operating without registration is a criminal offence.
Our specialist Ofsted supported accommodation registration service gives you everything you need to apply with confidence – from bespoke documentation to virtual property review, SC1 and SC2 form submission, and full interview preparation.
For further information about how we support providers across the children’s services sector, visit our Ofsted registration support page.
You can read the official Ofsted guidance for applicants on the GOV.UK supported accommodation registration page.

Our Three-Stage Registration Process

We create your complete documentation package and virtually assess your premises against the Accommodation Standard. Every document is bespoke – written from scratch to reflect your service model, target group and operating area.
Stage 2: SC1 and SC2 Application Submission (1 to 2 weeks)
Professional completion of all Ofsted application forms, including financial evidence and supporting documentation. We submit your application and track progress directly with the Ofsted supported accommodation team.
Stage 3: Ofsted Interview and Site Visit Preparation (variable timeline)
Mock interviews for your Nominated Individual and Registered Service Manager, full site visit preparation and continuous support until your registration is approved.
Why Specialist Support Matters
The Ofsted supported accommodation registration framework is not the same as the children’s homes framework. Many applications are refused because providers submit children’s homes documentation against a completely different set of regulations.
Common Reasons for Refusal
❌ Using children’s homes policies instead of supported accommodation framework ❌ Inability to explain the difference between “support” and “care” ❌ Inadequate understanding of the 2023 Regulations and 4 Quality Standards ❌ Poor evidence of financial viability ❌ Weak Statement of Purpose that doesn’t reflect the support model
How We Strengthen Your Application
✅ Full alignment with the 4 Quality Standards (leadership and management, protection, accommodation, support) ✅ Proper supported accommodation framework – never children’s homes content ✅ Demonstrable regulatory competence and management capability ✅ Robust financial sustainability evidence ✅ Clear distinction between “support” and “care” throughout
Cost of refusal: £4,500 in non-refundable Ofsted fees, plus months of lost revenue and potential damage to future applications.
Supported Accommodation vs Children’s Homes – Key Differences
| Supported Accommodation | Children’s Homes |
|---|---|
| 4 Quality Standards | 9 Quality Standards |
| No mandatory qualifications for manager | Level 5 Diploma required |
| Provider-level registration | Setting-based registration |
| Ages 16 to 17 only | Primarily under 18s |
| Support for independence | Provision of care |
Critical: Children’s homes documentation will cause refusal. Every document we produce is purpose-built for supported accommodation.
