Right Support, Right Care, Right Culture

Right Support, Right Care, Right Culture: Right Support, Right Care, Right Culture is CQC guidance setting out what good looks like for services supporting autistic people and people with a learning disability, covering the model of support, the care delivered, and the culture of the organisation.

It is guidance rather than a regulation, but CQC assesses against it, and registration applications for these service user groups are examined closely for whether the proposed model fits it.

Right support means the model maximises choice, control and independence, which in practice weighs against large congregate settings and in favour of people having an ordinary home life. Right care means care is person-centred and promotes dignity and rights. Right culture means the values and attitudes of leaders and staff genuinely produce those outcomes rather than describing them.

Providers adding a learning disability or autism service user band should expect the model itself to be scrutinised, not just the policies that sit around it.
