01 · Two separate costs

Your CQC registration cost: our fee and the regulator's fee

The regulator's own charge is separate from the consultant fee. Most new providers only plan for one of them.

Paid to Cura Compliance

The consultant fee

£1,295 to £2,995

A one-off fee for your registration package, listed in full on this page. It covers your application documents, your forms, interview preparation and support until the regulator decides.

Paid to the regulator

The regulator's fee

Set by the regulator

CQC does not charge an application fee to register. It charges an annual regulatory fee once you are registered, calculated from your service type and size. Ofsted and the Care Inspectorate have their own separate fee scales.

Check the current figure on the regulator's own fees page before you budget. Ofsted and the Care Inspectorate expect their fee to be paid before registration is granted, and paying it is the provider's responsibility.

04 · What's included

What every registration package includes

Every package is delivered in two stages. Stage 1 is the application itself. Stage 2 starts when your application is submitted and runs until the regulator makes its decision.

Some items can only come from you, such as DBS checks, your office lease and landlord consent, insurance and ICO registration. We give you a checklist for these on day one.

06 · Individual documents

Individual documents and policy sets

If you are handling the application yourself and need only the paperwork, each document is sold on its own, which keeps your CQC registration cost down.

Doing it yourself? Compare first

Buying single documents makes sense if you only need one or two. If you need the core set for a home care application, add it up before you buy.

Statement of Purpose £195 + business plan £395 + policy set £895 = £1,485
Full home care package: £1,495, which also covers your application forms, interview preparation, the mock interview and free resubmission.

08 · How fees compare

How the CQC registration cost compares between consultants

Published consultant fees for a new domiciliary care registration in the UK generally sit between £1,500 and £6,000, with the higher end covering clinical services or multi-site providers.

Cura Compliance CQC packagesTypical published consultant fees

Cura Compliance sits at the lower end of that band, and every package includes the mock interview, the policy set and unlimited free resubmission. Be cautious of any consultant who guarantees registration. No one can. The regulator decides whether you, your manager and your systems are suitable.

FAQs

CQC registration cost: your questions

How much does CQC registration cost in 2026?

Budget for two separate costs. The consultant fee, if you use one, is typically £1,500 to £6,000 across the UK market; a Cura Compliance package is £1,495 to £1,995 depending on service type. Separately, CQC charges an annual regulatory fee once you are registered, based on your service type and size. CQC does not charge a fee to submit the application itself.

Does CQC charge a fee to apply for registration?

No. There is no application fee. CQC charges an annual regulatory fee after you are registered, and the amount depends on the type of service and its size, so a small domiciliary agency pays considerably less than a large care home.

How much does Ofsted registration cost for a children's home?

A full Ofsted children's home registration package from Cura Compliance is £2,995, which includes the SC1 and SC2 applications, Statement of Purpose, policy set, location risk assessment support and interview preparation. Ofsted charges its own registration and annual fees separately.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes. Every registration package can be split 50/50: half to begin, which releases your full application document pack, and half when your application is submitted to the regulator. Paying in full instead takes 10% off the package price.

What is the cheapest way to register with CQC?

Doing the application yourself and buying only the one or two documents you cannot write is the cheapest route. A Statement of Purpose is £195, a business plan with two years of financial forecasts is £395, and a full policy set for home care is £895. Buying all three comes to £1,485, close to the £1,495 home care package, which also covers the forms, interview preparation, mock interview and free resubmission. Doing it yourself works if you are confident handling the portal, the evidence requirements and the fit person interview.

Why do CQC applications get rejected, and does that cost more?

The most common reasons are incomplete applications, generic bought-in policies the applicant cannot explain, and a proposed manager without enough management experience. A rejected application loses its place in the queue, which is the real cost. Every Cura Compliance registration package includes unlimited free resubmission of the same application until the regulator accepts it and passes it to an inspector.

Do you guarantee registration?

No, and no consultant can. The regulator decides, and the interview is yours to pass. What we do promise is unlimited free resubmission until your application reaches an inspector. If the regulator refuses after the interview and there is clear evidence the reason lies in documents we prepared, we take responsibility for the appeal.

Do you work outside England?

Yes. The Care Inspectorate registers services in Scotland and Care Inspectorate Wales registers services in Wales. Scottish packages are listed above; contact us for a price in Wales.
