CQC and Ofsted registration costs in 2026

A full CQC registration package from Cura Compliance costs between £1,495 and £1,995 in 2026, depending on the service type. Ofsted registration runs from £2,395 for supported accommodation to £2,995 for a children’s home, and Care Inspectorate Scotland registration starts at £1,295. Single documents, such as a statement of purpose or a business plan, start at £95. Every price on this page is the price you pay, listed in full, with no quote required.

The regulator’s own charge is separate from the consultant fee. CQC does not charge an application fee to register. It charges an annual regulatory fee once you are registered, calculated from your service type and size, and Ofsted and the Care Inspectorate have their own separate fee scales. Check the current figure on the regulator’s own fees page before you budget.

  • The full policy and procedure set for your service type
  • A business plan with two years of monthly financials where the regulator requires one
  • A two-hour mock interview with a consultant who has sat on the other side of the process
  • Responses to regulator queries and follow-ups until a decision is reached
  • Appeal support if the application is refused, included at no extra cost

Ways to pay

There are two options on every registration package. Pay in full and take 10% off the package price. Or split it: 50% to begin, which releases your full application document pack, and 50% at the close of the interview stage, which covers your keep-ready documents, mock interview and regulator follow-up. Both options include the complete document pack, the two-hour mock interview and appeal support.

How consultant fees compare

Published consultant fees for a new domiciliary care registration in the UK generally sit between £1,500 and £6,000, with the wider end of that range covering clinical services or multi-site providers. Cura Compliance sits at the lower end of that band while including the mock interview, the policy set and appeal support that are often charged as extras elsewhere. Be cautious of any consultant who guarantees registration. No one can. The regulator decides whether you, your manager and your systems are suitable.

Frequently asked questions

How much does CQC registration cost in 2026?

Budget for two separate costs. The consultant fee, if you use one, is typically £1,500 to £6,000 across the UK market; a Cura Compliance package is £1,495 to £1,995 depending on service type. Separately, CQC charges an annual regulatory fee once you are registered, based on your service type and size. CQC does not charge a fee to submit the application itself.

Does CQC charge a fee to apply for registration?

No. There is no application fee. CQC charges an annual regulatory fee after you are registered, and the amount depends on the type of service and its size, so a small domiciliary agency pays considerably less than a large care home.

How much does Ofsted registration cost for a children’s home?

A full Ofsted children’s home registration package from Cura Compliance is £2,995, which includes the SC1 and SC2 applications, statement of purpose, policy set, location risk assessment support and interview preparation. Ofsted charges its own registration and annual fees separately.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes. Every registration package can be split 50/50: half to begin, which releases your full document pack, and half at the close of the interview stage. Paying in full instead takes 10% off the package price.

What is the cheapest way to register with CQC?

Doing the application yourself and buying only the documents you cannot write is the cheapest route. A statement of purpose is £195, a business plan with two years of financials is £395, and a full policy set for your service type is £895. That approach works if you are confident handling the portal, the evidence requirements and the fit person interview yourself.

Why do CQC applications get rejected, and does that cost more?

The most common reasons are incomplete applications, generic bought-in policies the applicant cannot explain, and a proposed manager without enough management experience. A resubmission is treated as a new application and loses its place in the queue, which is the real cost. Appeal support is included in every Cura Compliance package rather than charged as an extra.

Do you work outside England?

Yes. Ofsted registration covers children’s services in England, the Care Inspectorate covers Scotland, and CIW covers Wales. Scottish packages are listed above; contact us for Wales.
